Ashkharazhokhov Demands to Stop Famine and War in Yemen

April 10, 2025

Every 10 minutes, a child dies in Yemen due to disease, hunger, and airstrikes. These numbers are not just statistics — they are a moral indictment. Over 24 million Yemenis are in need of humanitarian assistance. 2.3 million children under the age of five are on the brink of starvation.

We, the members of the Ashkharazhokhov Pan-Armenian Movement, whose memory carries the tragedies of genocide and war, call on the international community to immediately halt the killing of civilians in Yemen and prevent a humanitarian disaster that amounts to genocide by starvation.

Ashkharazhokhov also urges the Government of Armenia to use its diplomatic channels to promote United Nations resolutions on Yemen. Millions of Yemenis are deprived of access to water, food, and medical supplies.

The history of the Armenian people — survivors of the genocide in the Ottoman Empire and the blockade of Artsakh — teaches us that the world’s silence only emboldens executioners. We cannot remain silent while Yemeni children starve. The Armenian people, who have endured blockades and deprivation, understand the true cost of inaction.

We therefore demand the following steps from all parties involved in the conflict, and from the international coalition led by the U.S. and the U.K.:

🔴 End airstrikes on hospitals, schools, markets, and residential areas — these are war crimes.

🔴 Open humanitarian corridors and ensure the free flow of food, medicine, and drinking water. Guarantee unimpeded aid deliveries through the ports of Hodeidah and Sana.

🔴 Respect international humanitarian law and human rights by ending the collective punishment of the civilian population.

🔴 Return to a diplomatic process under the mediation of the UN Security Council to bring an end to this prolonged tragedy.

The world’s silence makes it complicit in the suffering of millions. Yemen is not just a dot on the map — it is home to millions of human lives that deserve protection.

Stop the war! Stop the hunger!
